Fri, 09/05/2008 - 14:49 — PhotographyFeederThe Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman was published more than a year ago, so this review may not be very timely. However, I feel that the quality of this book warrants some extra attention. I keep going back to this book time and again too lookup a new way of thinking about one of my own photos or an upcoming shoot. It is a terrific source of inspiration and a treasure chest of photographic compositional knowledge.
The Professional Photographer: A Dying Breed?
Thu, 09/04/2008 - 21:32 — PhotographyFeederThese days every amateur photographer has a digital SLR camera, most phones come equipped with cameras, and almost every young adult is the author of a blog. We’re in the midst of the Web 2.0 era where information and resources are available to anybody, anywhere, at anytime. Everyone has a voice, and everybody has an opinion. Many professionals are questioning the ethics of this.

Stand in Front of Something More Interesting
Tue, 08/26/2008 - 13:23 — PhotographyFeederI heard some great photography advice recently: if you want to take better photos, then you should stand in front of something more interesting. This is a terrific suggestion for anyone who has burned out, become lethargic, or otherwise decided that they now hate taking photos despite their $3000 camera investment. You might be top ace at the thing you do most often, but seriously, is that anyway to build up a diverse portfolio? If your neighbors came over and saw the photos on your wall, would they assume you had a certain obsession? Branch out! Stand in front of something more interesting (with your camera, naturally).
Of course, "interesting" to one person is not the same as "interesting" to another. I believe the gut of this advice is essentially this: try something new. Here's some unsolicited advice to get you started.
